The complete TEFL survival guide for: newly qualified teachers; gap year travellers; language assistants; summer school teachers; volunteer teachers; The book gives advice and ideas to help you tackle your first lessons in any country and covers how to prepare, what to take with you, surviving the first lesson, instant lesson plans, photocopiable activities, tips on finding a job, advice from teachers who’ve done it and more.

The book includes quick ideas and games such as Kim’s Game: Choose 15 to 20 items and lay them out one by one on the table or floor. You may wish to say the name of each object as you lay it out. Give the class two minutes to memorise the objects in front of them. Cover the objects (perhaps with a towel or bin liner) and ask the group (or teams) to write down the names of as many of the items as they can remember in five minutes. Give one point for each correct item listed.
