The ESL Art Activity is a simple classroom game for practicing prepositions, vocabulary, and speaking at all different levels and for all different classes.

Essentially what you are doing is describing a picture to your class and having them reproduce it. The key here is choosing the right picture for the class.

Let’s assume your class is beginners who have learned colors and basic preposition use. For them the picture here is ideal: a modern art work consisting of blocks of colors arranged simply.

The picture here, by the way, is by modern artist, Piet Mondrain. For your class you can easily make simpler or more complex patterns in the same style to suit their ability.
